After more than one year’s preparations, the digital overall TV transformation project was officially launched in Meizhou City of Guangdong Province on November 12, 2009. Meanwhile, Meizhou Jiashu Broadcasting & TV Network Co., Ltd. was officially established. Present at the ceremony was Lin Bihong, member of standing committee and Minister of Propaganda of Meizhou City. Terry Lui, Board Chairman of DVN was also invited to participate in the ceremony.

It is reported that CATV digitization will turn more than 1 million TV sets in Meizhou into multimedia information terminals integrating public communications, information service, culture and recreation, and interactions. After overall transformation, CATV will have more program resources, up from over 40 channels to 65 basic channels. In addition, 10 digital audio broadcast channels, a number of HD TV programs and quasi-VOD programs will be provided. The project will be basically completed in the first half of 2010 in urban areas of downtown Meizhou and in the latter half of 2010 in urban areas of its counties (county level municipalities).

Since 2008, DVN has entered into an integrated cooperation agreement with Meizhou to provide the city with complete sets of technical products and solutions, including CATV front-end platforms, interactive platforms, broadband platforms, ordinary STBs, value-added STBs for overall transformation throughout the city, bidirectional network transformation, and construction and improvement of backbone transmission networks within the city and its counties.
